Visiting DENC
DENC welcomes visits from educational, conservation, and other organizations interested in learning more about our land restoration practices and educational opportunities. Please contact info@driftsedgeconservancy.org to schedule a visit. We permit scheduled visitors based on the following guidelines:
- Seasonal requirements
- At least two weeks advance notice
- Organizations are given priority on our calendar and groups over individuals
- People who volunteer for DENC maintenance and other activities are given
priority
We welcome visitors on a seasonal basis for recreational hiking; however, unless you are an organization seeking to have a group event, we limit permission to small groups on a scheduled basis. As a result, we encourage individuals wishing to visit the conservancy to invite friends, family or other people to participate in a group visit. This minimizes our need to manage several individual tours and requests. There are certain times of the year such as nesting season that because of the bird populations that rely on the property for habitat, only specific sections of the property are available for visit for visiting. In addition, the conservancy does not accept visitors during Wisconsin deer hunting season and over most national holidays, unless it is for a specific public DENC holiday-themed event.

Recreation
At Drift’s Edge, our aim is to create a balance between sustainably maintaining our land while nurturing an environment in which you can play, exercise, learn a new outdoor activity, or relax while listening to the morning bird song or peeper calls on a spring evening.
- Take a hike on our 3 ½ miles of woodland walking trails.
- Spend an afternoon floating or fishing in our 1-acre pond.
- Fish for trout or go wading on a hot day in Ross Crossing Creek.
- Watch the night sky for meteor showers on a September night.
- Come winter, learn to snowshoe or cross-country ski across Aspen Island.

Organizational Group Visits
We welcome visits from community and not-for-profit groups, particularly those serving children, families, and people who haven’t had the benefit of spending much time outdoors. Organizations interested in combining recreation and education are welcome as well. Please refer to our Education page for a guide to our fun, highly interactive programming!
- Educational scavenger hunts and other interactive activities
- Learn while you volunteer to help manage invasive plants or tend native species

Individual and Small Group Visits
DENC gives priority to groups (even small, informal groups) over individuals seeking to visit the property. Please contact info@driftsedgeconservancy.org to schedule a visit.
