K-12 Education

Hands-On Learning Rooted in Land, Science, and Story

At Drift’s Edge, we believe that the best education happens not just in classrooms—but in the field, with your boots on the ground and your senses wide open. Our 96-acre site serves as a dynamic learning landscape for K–12 students and educators, offering immersive experiences that bring environmental science, regional ecology, and cultural history to life.

Opportunities for Educators and School Groups

We welcome partnerships with teachers, schools, and youth programs seeking meaningful, standards-aligned learning in nature. Whether you’re looking for a one-day field experience or a multi-visit learning arc, we collaborate with educators to tailor each program to student age, curriculum goals, and seasonal opportunities.

Program themes include:

  • Watersheds & Wetlands: Explore local hydrology and discover how water shapes our ecosystems.
  • Prairie & Woodland Ecology: Study native species, habitat relationships, and cycles of restoration.
  • Soil & Stone: Dig into Wisconsin’s glaciated and unglaciated geology and what it tells us about deep time.
  • Flora, Fauna & Phenology: Learn to observe seasonal change through the lens of plant and animal life.
  • Cultural Landscapes: Engage respectfully with the cultural legacy of Indigenous peoples, exploring land use, migration, and Neolithic tools and traditions.

Book a Visit or Partner with Us

If you’re a teacher or youth leader interested in bringing your students to Drift’s Edge—or developing a program together—we’d love to connect. We offer a limited number of spring and fall field sessions each year to ensure rich, hands-on experiences for every group.

Contact us to schedule a visit, explore program options, or co-design a learning experience rooted in science, story, and stewardship.
